Suiteheart: “In To You”

Suiteheart describes himself as a small-town boy singing in a lonely world. With that being said, Suiteheart's newest single, "In To You," is out now on all platforms starting today. Let's take a look at what he has to say about the process of recording and releasing this newest single.

WHAT IS YOUR NAME, THE GENRE YOU PLAY, AND WHERE ARE YOU FROM?

"My name is Suiteheart, but my parents call me Aaron. I'm not sure what genre my music is, but I'd say I fall somewhere between 'emo' and 'pop.' I've moved around a lot, but it's usually just easier to say I'm from San Diego."

WHEN DID YOU START MAKING MUSIC? WHAT INSPIRES THE MUSIC YOU MAKE?

"I had my first guitar lesson when I was 11, but I didn't start actually thinking I could sing and write songs until 2018. I'd say the strongest inspiration for my music comes from trying to understand and cope with my emotions. I'm not the greatest communicator in the world, and sometimes, I can write words to a song that I'd never think (or feel comfortable enough) to say in real life. I never really grew out of my emo phase."

WHAT IS THIS NEWEST SINGLE ABOUT? WHAT MESSAGE ARE YOU TRYING TO GET ACROSS WITH THIS SINGLE?

"Everybody loves love songs. And that's okay. I do too. But what I really wanted to do with this song was try and encapsulate that 'in the pit of your stomach' feeling when you first realize that you like someone. That excitement. That nervousness. That 'what the hell do I do now?' moment. Hopefully, it works."

WHAT WAS THE RECORDING PROCESS LIKE? WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE PART? WHAT WAS YOUR LEAST FAVORITE PART?

"Songwriting and recording are a weird, combined process for me. I've got mad ADD, so everything happens simultaneously: words, melodies, instruments, etc., or nothing happens. So, like most things I do, 'In to You' started as a flurry of random sounds and ideas with absolutely nothing cohesive gluing it together. My two favorite parts are when I finally stumbled upon that arpeggio that kind of runs through the whole song (I tried so many different patterns that I kept hating) the first time I recorded the chunky electric guitar for the chorus. It hit so hard and added so much that I'm pretty sure I legitimately started laughing.

Honestly, I think the most challenging part of the whole process was stopping and saying, 'I'm done.' I'm a hardcore perfectionist and a chaser of 'just a little better,' so being unable to make any more changes and sending out a final product is a nightmare."

WHAT CAN FANS EXPECT IN THE FUTURE FROM YOU? NEW MUSIC? SHOWS? TOURING?

"I'm always working on music, and I've got a couple of songs in the production pipeline right now. I've been doing open mics a lot lately, but I've been working a lot on my live performance, so I'm definitely looking to play some shows this year! I'll keep you posted!"
