Small Ways to Become a Better Singer Without Setting Aside Any Extra Time

Finding time to set aside to work on your vocals can be challenging. However, there are many small exercises you can do throughout your busy day (which take just a few minutes) that will compound over time, and can make a huge difference.

Here is a quick schedule to show you an example of what this might look like for you:

MORNING

In the Shower: Run through a lip trills exercise to warm up your vocal cords.

While Brushing Teeth: Posture Check! Stand tall with good posture while getting ready for the day.

Daily Commute:  Recite tongue twisters in the car for articulation practice.

AFTERNOON

Lunch Break: Practice vowel sounds during your lunch break in a quiet spot. (Tip: there are great videos on youtube to assist, if you’d like)

Break: Practice matching pitch with your favorite song during a short break.

EVENING

Jaw and Neck Stretch: Stretch your jaw and neck while relaxing before dinner.

Improvise: Freestyle sing or improvise melodies in the evening for creativity. Sing the melody of whatever song is stuck in your head. Change the lyrics to reflect what your doing (Dishes, playing with your dog, taking a walk etc).

BEFORE BED

Breathing Exercises: Practice deep breathing before bedtime for relaxation.

Remember, these are just examples, and you can adjust the schedule based on your daily routine. The key is to find small pockets of time to consistently incorporate these vocal exercises into your day.
