The third installment from Courtside Betty, "Tunnel Vision" explores the contradiction of upbeat melodies colliding with themes of anxiety and depression. Clay Oboth, the band's lead singer and songwriter, reveals the personal origins of the track, "I remember writing the first two verses to this song when I was doing breathing exercises on the verge of a panic attack. I wanted to channel the overwhelming nervous energy I was experiencing into something else so I started describing what I was feeling and wrote it all down on my phone. A couple of lines stood out to me and, after a little tweaking, the rest of the lyrics came together pretty quickly after that." Drawing from raw emotion, Oboth crafted lyrics that capture the experience of navigating mental health struggles while presenting a facade of happiness to the world.

Despite the somber subject matter, "Tunnel Vision" exudes an infectious energy, driven by vibrant vocal and guitar melodies. This contrast between lyrics that candidly address mental health challenges and the lively musical arrangement creates a compelling dynamic, inviting listeners into a world where darkness and light intersect. An unconventional yet captivating element to the song is Catherine's electric harp, which serves as a rhythmic anchor alongside Felipe's lead guitar, showcasing the band's commitment to experimentation.

Since their formation in early 2023, Courtside Betty has been making waves in the indie rock scene with their distinctive sound, drawing inspiration from 90s alt-rock and 2000s indie influences. Led by Oboth's emotive delivery, Felipe Gomez on guitar, Conner Myers on bass, and Catherine Skinner on electric harp, the band delivers a sonic experience that resonates with audiences on a profound level.

In "Tunnel Vision," Courtside Betty presents a delightful blend of introspection and animated spirit. With their latest release, the San Diego indie scene gets a fresh spark as the band introduces a catchy tune infused with thoughtful lyrics. Through their unique sound and genuine expression, Courtside Betty continues to charm audiences, showcasing their evolution while staying true to their indie roots.
