Discover New Sounds: Stephanie Borgani, Luis Chamis, and Pritesh Walia Live at Dizzy’s San Diego
Looking to listen to some Brazilian instrumental jazz? Well, we have the show for you! Wordless vocalist Stephanie Borgani and pianist Luis Chamis, joined by jazz guitarist Pritesh Walia, will be performing an original set of songs on Saturday, August 3rd, at Dizzy's San Diego in Clairemont Mesa.
Dizzy’s, run by Chuck Perrin since 2000, is a low-key venue in San Diego focusing on live music. Originally in a warehouse near the ballpark, it had to move in 2007 due to renovations. Now located at 1717 Morena Blvd in the Musician's Association of San Diego building, Dizzy’s is all about the music with no bar, restaurant, or distractions. It offers a relaxed, intimate setting for a range of performances, from jazz to blues, and is accessible to all ages.
Brazilian-American vocalist Stephanie Borgani, originally from São Paulo, will present selections from her 2023 album “Respiro, Vol. 1” alongside jazz pianist Luis Chamis. Their performance will blend intricate arrangements with improvisation, exploring the interplay between freedom and structure. Their music is influenced by Brazilian instrumental sounds, contemporary jazz, classical music, and free improvisation.
Joining them for this performance will be LA-based guitarist and composer Pritesh Walia, who comes from New Delhi, India. Pritesh, who has collaborated with Stephanie since their time at the New England Conservatory, will perform both solo and group pieces, including new works from an upcoming album featuring Stephanie on vocals and Luis Chamis as a guest artist.
