Meet THE BAND LIGHT: Nashville’s Latest Pop-Rock Sensation Opening for New Hope Club

We've got an exciting show announcement for our pop-rock San Diego fans this week! The ascending pop-rock group THE BAND LIGHT is set to bring their infectious sound to the stage as they open for the internationally renowned New Hope Club at House of Blues on October 22nd. Based out of the musical city of Nashville, Tennessee, THE BAND LIGHT consists of Jack (bass and keys), Konnor (lead singer), Garrett (guitar), and Trevor (drums). With a dynamic blend of catchy hooks, energetic performances, and undeniable charisma, THE BAND LIGHT is quickly making a name for themselves in the music scene, having previously performed at notable events like THON at Penn State, pop-up shows outside Jonas Brothers concerts, and opening for Quarters of Change along the East Coast. I had the pleasure of getting to ask THE BAND LIGHT a few questions about their live shows, their background, and what they have in store for the future! You can also find all the information about this show towards the end of the article. Let's get to know THE BAND LIGHT—you won't want to miss their upcoming San Diego show!

TELL ME ABOUT THE FORMATION OF THE BAND LIGHT. HOW AND WHEN DID THE BAND FORM?

"The band started out as just a studio project between Jack, Garrett, and Konnor in the summer of 2020. Covid hit right around the time of our high school’s production of Footloose the musical so we were unfortunately not able to perform. Konnor had the idea to re-record all of the songs from it and enlisted Jack for help. Eventually, they got to some tunes that needed some heavier guitar than either of them could play. They knew of Garrett and asked him to come record and were instantly captured by his skill on the instrument. The three eventually started recording original songs and released them under the moniker 'light.', (and) as things progressed Garrett’s friend Trevor took notice and asked if he could join the band. Eventually, all four rehearsed together and after playing one original, the rest was history.”

IS THERE A STORY BEHIND THE BAND'S NAME?

"The band name came from the merging of two ideas. When trying to think of a name for the project Garrett suggested the name 'Brighton' as it's the same name of the town he grew up in. That eventually became 'Bright' which later became 'Light'. Once Trevor joined it was like the band was complete so the name was changed to 'The Band Light'. Originally it didn’t have much of a meaning outside of being a band name that stuck but now it’s become sort of a symbol for what we believe in. That is to spread love and connection to anyone who listens. There’s a lot of bad in the world today and we simply hope to provide some sort of escape for those who need it most."

TELL ME ABOUT YOUR LATEST RELEASE, THE EP "PINBALL", WHICH CAME OUT ON SEPTEMBER 20TH, 2024. WHAT WAS THE RECORDING PROCESS LIKE?

"'Pinball', as with most of our latest releases, was written about two years before it actually released. The creation of it was similar to our usual writing/recording process in which Konnor and Trevor wrote the song while Jack and Garrett came in and helped finish the production. 'Pinball' in particular went through many different iterations before the right version was found."

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE ASPECT OF PERFORMING LIVE? IS THERE A PARTICULAR ENERGY OR MOMENT YOU LOOK FORWARD TO DURING YOUR SHOWS?

"There’s so much to performing live that’s a rush but each of our personal favorites have to be the connection and the exchange of energy with an audience. Seeing your songs connect with people in real-time is one of the most special things one can experience."

WHAT IS THE CORE MESSAGE/FEELING YOU ARE TRYING TO GET ACROSS THROUGH YOUR MUSIC?

"More than anything we want to create an atmosphere of love, community, and connection as those are some of the most important things to us!"

WHAT CAN FANS EXPECT FROM YOU IN THE FUTURE?

"Nothing less than more and better! More music, more shows, and even more to get excited about!"

ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO ADD?

"We’re grateful and excited to be opening for New Hope Club on 10/20 in San Francisco and 10/22 in San Diego! As previously stated our new song 'Pinball' is streaming on all platforms, and we would like to give a huge thank you to Amplified Studios for interviewing us!"
