Somewhere Like Shoreview is a local band with a sound that makes you feel like you're drifting on the waves of the open Pacific. I first discovered them during an open mic night at Amplified Studios, where they performed some of their songs off their new album "Drury Lane." The band consists of Kyle Kelly (Vocals and Guitar), Michael Leone (Drums), Natalie Sumatra (Vocals), and Jacob Meyer (Synth). They describe their sound as bedroom pop with a little bit of midwestern emo, which I couldn't agree more with. Their latest album, inspired by frontman Kyle Kelly's break up with his long-term girlfriend, takes you on an emotional journey that you will want to take over and over again. Some of my favorite songs on the album include; "3", "urun, ichays," and "Rest."

I got the chance to talk to the band, and some of their most prominent words of advice are, "San Diego musicians get your head out of your a** and do something new! Push the envelope! Do something different! Push yourself to make something that inspires other people! Use your emotions, write down exactly how you feel, and just create.”

If you are in the market for new music you'll vibe to, I cannot recommend Somewhere Like Shoreview more than enough! So relax, get comfortable, light one up, and listen to their album. I guarantee you'll go on a journey you'll never forget.
