TELL ME MORE ABOUT YOUR BAND NAME. HOW DID Y'ALL NAME YOURSELVES?

"I wish it were a better story, but Paige's real name is Paige Koehler, so it's a play-off of her name. She used to play only solo but then decided she wanted the band to have a more cohesive joint feel, so Peach Cooler came to be."

HOW DID THE BAND FORM?

"We've all been in the San Diego music scene playing in different projects for 5-6 years, so it's really just mutual friends. The original formation of Peach Cooler was created in an infamous garage practice space known as the Garage Mahal. For years the Garage Mahal was the home base for an open jam of local SD musicians on most weekends. The band started and created their musical chemistry there. From there, it was just finding friends of friends in the scene (most of which we had jammed with at the Garage Mahal) who are now all in the band."

WHAT DOES YOUR BAND STAND FOR?

"We wanted to create a band that stood for making some room for everyone and anyone to come and connect with the music. When we first started, the guys in the band all wore dresses. Or they wore kooky outfits and acted borderline chaotic on stage. It lets people think, 'Okay, well, they're stepping outside the social norm. They're doing whatever they want and having fun, so maybe I should do the same.' Although the guys haven't worn dresses in a bit, and we have a new band formation, we still encourage weirdness or goofiness at our shows."

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SHOW MEMORY AND WHY?

"One of the all-time best shows was our first show at Music Box. At the time, we were trying out a seven-piece with backup singers, percussion, horns, etc., so it was fun because we were really going for it. We threw peaches into the crowd, invited local roller skaters to come to skate in the crowd, planted a flash mob, and then threw paper airplanes into the crowd from the top floor for our closing song, 'Love You Till the Airport.'"

Peach Cooler mentions another event.

"We also did an East Coast tour last year where we got to play Paige's hometowns and our former guitarist, Jesse, so that was a blast."

WHAT IS YOUR CRAZIEST LIVE SHOW STORY?

"Oh, a lot of chaos makes for our favorite shows. We just played Belly Up, which was a bucket list item for us. Paige was hopping around in the audience at one point and stepped on her mic plug and unplugged it for a few seconds, which was pretty hilarious."

"One time we played Sofar Sounds where the host had a really rad sofa in their garage. We moved it on stage and made it 'Sofa Sounds.' Our bassist kept removing a piece of clothing and putting it on Paige, so there was just a lot of chaos. After the gig, we heard people talking about 'how funny that Peach Cooler band was.' And we were like, 'Well, we're actually musicians, not comedians. Shouldn't they be talking about our music?' But we'll take what we can get as long as they have fun."

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR INFLUENCES?

"We always say if Liz Cooper and Vampire Weekend were playing a game of badminton at a backyard BBQ in SoCal, Peach Cooler would be playing through the host's speakers."

WHAT ARE SOME FUTURE ENDEAVORS WE CAN EXPECT FROM YOU?

"We're playing Music Box on June 23 with Aviator Stash and Wes Chiller. We are also releasing our single 'You Talk Too Much' on that date. After that, we'll be releasing a song per month and will have some music videos/live sessions coming your way. Also, peach season is around the corner, so you can expect more peaches at shows."
