San Diego Bands Congregate In Jamul This Weekend

Join me this weekend, on March 23rd and 24th, in Jamul for the One Love Lunar Solar Eclipse Festival, presented by the GoodVibesWorldwide Network. Showcasing an array of talent from San Diego, this festival will feature local San Diego bands such as Plant, Discount Cadavers, and Audio Martyr, to name a few. Proceeds from the event will support veterans and various initiatives by GoodVibesWorldwide, ranging from sustainable farming to community billiards events.

Despite the event being just a week away, there's still time to secure your passes. Tickets start at $120 for a two-day pass, with VIP options available at $175 and a special $50 pass for veterans.

Prepare to witness 33 bands, including the likes of Exotic Fruit Tour, Doah’s Day Dream, and Mama Frida & The Boys. Kicking off the festivities at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday is Psychotic Goat, followed by performances every thirty minutes until 11 p.m. when the Gateway Drum Circle will bring the first day to a close. Sunday’s lineup begins with Eucalyptus Blu at 10 a.m., with bands performing on the same schedule and concluding an hour earlier at 10 p.m. with the drum circle.

The GoodVibesWorldwide Network is a nonprofit dedicated to holistic healing and community engagement in Jamul. Through events like this festival, they aim to promote positivity and raise awareness for various causes, including supporting veterans and providing aid to disadvantaged families worldwide.

For those intrigued by celestial phenomena, mark your calendars: a Penumbral Lunar Eclipse will grace the night sky starting around 9:53 p.m. on Sunday the 24th, lasting until 2:32 a.m. As the bands build up to this cosmic event, stick around to witness it in all its glory, accompanied by the rhythmic beats of the drum circle.

Beyond the music and celestial spectacle, the festival will host an array of vendors and sponsors, offering everything from tantalizing treats at Tacos El Gabacho and City Island Cafe to designer apparel from companies like Razafari and organic syrups by Dad’s Elixirs. While information about outside food and drinks isn't available on the festival’s website, it’s safe to assume that food sponsors will be on-site. Nonetheless, it’s wise to stash some snacks and water in your car, just in case. If you're planning to bring a bag, opt for something small and transparent, adhering to typical concert etiquette.

As for the weather, there's a 40% chance of rain, so come prepared with rain gear. Don't forget sunscreen too, just in case the sun makes an appearance—it’s expected to reach around 65°F during the day, but temperatures could drop to 48°F in the evening.

This marks the inaugural edition of the One Love Lunar Solar Eclipse Festival, but the up-to-date line-up is very promising, hopefully, I will see you there.
