Sorry It’s Over: Meet Louis Petrella
Meet Louis Patrella. Louis, whose artist name is Sorry It's Over, is a local San Diego musician who emerged from within the scene a couple of years ago. I had the pleasure of interviewing Louis on his experience as a solo act in the San Diego music scene. So, let's see what he has to say without further ado!

TELL ME MORE ABOUT YOUR SOLO NAME.
"One of the first drummers I jammed with for the project came in with a list of names, and I just remember thinking that was a great name that we could see up next to other bands we liked on a bill. And also, it would be a good dad joke when we say our name at the end of a set. Shoutout to Jonny!"
WHAT MADE YOU WANT TO START THIS PROJECT?
"After spending some time experimenting with other genres like EDM, I got back to my roots of writing songs and performing music live. I was into rock music and writing songs when I was younger. But I took a left turn after high school to focus on producing electronic music and got into making remixes and songs on my laptop. After a while, I just wasn't connecting to that genre of music anymore and fell back in love with indie/ alternative rock, where I felt like I could make music with more emotion in it."
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SHOW MEMORY AND WHY?
"I've loved being able to play shows in San Diego at places like The Casbah, Soda Bar, and Music Box. It's always an honor to play any of those spots. But my favorite memory would be from last year when we took a party bus up to LA to play a show, and we were able to road trip up and back with a bunch of friends along for the ride."

WHAT IS YOUR CRAZIEST LIVE SHOW STORY?
"Playing on top of the Wonder Bus while driving around San Diego was probably the craziest memory I have so far. It was pretty awesome just to play music while driving around and get beautiful views of La Jolla and Sunset Cliffs. Also, it was hilarious because we'd all be stumbling around as the bus moved and had to dodge for trees at times."
WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR INFLUENCES?
"I think the first influence that really inspired me to start writing songs was Green Day when I was about 10. I was lucky enough for my parents to get us tickets to one of their tours after American Idiot when they came to San Diego at the Chula Vista amphitheater. I think that was the first time I realized that I wanted to play music in a band. Some other artists that inspire me the most right now are Japanese Breakfast, Snail Mail, and Peach Pit."
WHAT ARE SOME FUTURE ENDEAVORS WE CAN EXPECT FROM YOU?
"I finally have a new album's worth of music that will be released towards the end of this year! We're gonna be releasing a single each month starting June 9th with the title track 'Feel Like It's the 60's' I'm very excited to release. I also have a show coming up at the Soda Bar to celebrate the release of the second single, 'Is it Cool?' with some awesome bands like No Car Garage and The Rued on July 6th."
