TELL ME MORE ABOUT THE NAME "WINNABEGO.”

"The name Winnabego Originally came from a song we were thinking about writing called 'The city has no streets in Winnebago.' We felt that phrase was really cool, so we thought Winnabego would be a sick band name and fun to say!"

HOW DID WINNABEGO FORM?

"Winnabego was formed by Keshaun and Aidan after their previous band split due to Covid-19 complications. They then needed two more players; hence Andres (Keshauns friend from childhood) and Canaan (Keshauns brother) joined the band!"

WHAT OTHER MUSICAL ACTS INSPIRE THE TYPE OF MUSIC YOU MAKE?

"Some musical acts that inspire us are pop hits from the 80s and contemporary indie artists such as Hippo Campus, Arlie, Dayglow, and Magic City Hippies."

WHAT DOES MAKING MUSIC/BEING IN A BAND MEAN TO YOU? IS IT MORE ABOUT THE MAKING OF THE MUSIC OR THE PERFORMANCE ASPECT?

"I think for so long, it was always about the performance aspect for us, especially since that's where all of the effort was being put towards. Now, we are seeing a change as our new EP is on the horizon. We want to be able to value our music as much as our live performance but also give them both the respect they deserve as their own entities."

LET'S TALK ABOUT YOUR MOST RECENT SINGLE, "FESTIVAL," WHICH CAME OUT ON JUNE 16TH OF 2023. WHAT DOES THIS SONG MEAN TO YOU?

"'Festival' (like all of our songs so far) is a take on a different style of pop music we wanted to recreate based on heartbreak and young love. Getting over someone special is tough, especially when you see them through a different lens than you see everyone else. 'I can't see without you technicolor….' refers to that feeling of hopelessness and denial after a breakup."

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SING TO PLAY LIVE?

Aidan responds to this one with, "My favorite song to play live is 'ping pong.' The sway back and forth I feel from the song puts me in a certain mood onstage that always makes me smile, even though the lyrics are super dark."

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR BAND TO SOMEONE WHO'S NEVER HEARD MUSIC BEFORE?

"Our band is a bunch of goofballs finding an outlet to really show the world who we are underneath. We want to bring new experiences with our music and live shows that make people think, feel, and want to come back for more."
