FIELDRUSH

The night started with a local fan-favorite emo band, Fieldrush. Fiedrush is a post-alt west-coast-emo group from San Diego, California. Fielrush played a fantastic, lively set that night at Humble Heart. The band consists of three members, Trevor Johnson (guitar + vox), Jin Salamack (bass + vox), and Diego Guardado (drums + vox). Taking influence from Aussie power-pop, midwest emo, and 90s shoegaze, Fieldrush will leave you always wanting more once their set is over.

SPILLBOY

Spillboy was next up on the lineup for this night. Spillboy is a four-piece indie/alternative band with garage-rock-like elements implemented within their music. I was truly blown away by how good Spillboy's performance was. With extremely melodic guitar leads, carefully timed-out dynamic build-up, and classic but dreamy indie-surf vocals, the band makes it hard to take your eyes off them once they are performing.

RAIN ON FRIDAYS

Closing out the night was Rain on Fridays. Originally a three-piece, now branching out with a new fourth member, the band played a lively set filled with new songs that gave us a glimpse into what is in store for the future of this band. Rain on Fridays is an indie alternative band that takes influence from 90s grunge acts and early 2000s emo/punk music. However, the band is taking a new severe and more honed-in take on the direction of their music. The show ended on a high note, with the crowd moshing along to ROF's fan-favorite song, "Slumber Party."

Overall, the Humble Heart show on 2/18/23 was a unique, intimate moment for those there. If you are looking for an excellent local venue to catch a DIY show at, Humble Heart in Ocean Beach will leave you more than content.
