calling all musicians: TRENDS TO CHECK OUT FOR FALL/WINTER 2023

Whether you're new to the world of social media or have been on the platforms for years, it's essential to keep up with the latest music trends. After all, numerous viral YouTube videos and trending TikTok moments have been driven by music. Let's peek at three significant music trends that you should definitely keep in mind.

Trend 1: The Rise of Sped-up Music

Speeding up music has emerged as a significant TikTok phenomenon, leading artists to re-release their tracks with a faster tempo. These fresh, slightly more dynamic renditions have garnered millions of TikTok views and are expected to keep up the pace. This trend has also spilled over into visual content creation. Many creators are accelerating their videos to align with the energetic pace of their music. It proves effective for brief personal/daily life videos and social media ads.

Trend 2: TikTok's Ongoing Star Factory

Fast tracks aren't the only music trend on TikTok's horizon. The platform continues to catapult unexpected artists to stardom, with everyone from Lil Nas X with "Old Town Road" to the Resurgence of "Dreams" By Fleetwood Mac (No one said an old song is out of the running; keep posting your songs, even if you released them years ago).

Trend 3: Emerging Micro-genres

Synthwave may have carved out its unique niche, but there's still plenty of space for even more ultra-specific musical realms to shine. The years 2022 and 2023 have witnessed this surge in micro-genres.

Two examples of micro-genres that I'm loving are:

"Drift Phonk." No, it's not the name of a newly discovered species; instead, it's a fusion of trap, hip-hop, and vaporwave! Originally coming out of Russia sometime in the late 2010s, drift phonk's high-energy rhythms have gained popularity recently, especially within the online car community.

Slowcore: Make sure you have your coat handy, as a downpour of melancholy is about to begin. Slowcore emerged in the United States during the 1990s, taking the framework of alternative rock, slowing down the tempo, and infusing everything with a touch of sadness. Grab those tissues and immerse yourself in them.
