The 6.30.23 Amplifiedsd Showcase!

On July 30th of 2023, Amplifiedsd hosted their 5th monthly showcase featuring local acts Rickety Cliffs, MUGS, Donna Drive, and Saint Luna. Not only was the night filled with high energy, memorable moments, and a strong community bond, but the turnout was a huge success. Shows here at Amplified Studios aren't only intimate and unique in their particular way but sound incredible compared to other small venues/show spots due to the professionalism of our gear. So, like every show, we brought out the wall of amps and spent the night bopping our heads away! Let's go over the night in more detail to shine some light and give an extra thank you to the bands who played.

RICKETY CLIFFS

Starting the night off was the local San Diego band Rickety Cliffs. Rickety Cliffs is a three-piece band with members Justin, Reese, and Justin. Rickety Cliffs bring a nostalgic sound to the stage, with little hints of prog rock tangled between each note they play. With catchy guitar leads, gritty bass tone, and hard-hitting drums, Rickety Cliffs will leave you more than impressed when they finish playing. If you're looking for a new band to listen to that takes a unique spin on genres like rock, punk, and prog, you will want to catch the next Rickety Cliffs show!

MUGS

Next up on the lineup was MUGS, who formerly went by Extremophiles before they changed their name a couple of months back. MUGS is a four-piece band originally from Temecula that has now made there way into the San Diego area. Not only are MUGS completely DIY, but they have an exceptional talent for making you want to bust a move while they are shredding away. Coming from a past interview we did with MUGS a while back, they want listeners of their music to "have fun, take it easy, and overthrow our capitalist overloads with no mercy!" Don't skip out on these guys if you're looking for a new upbeat local punk/alternative band!

DONNA DRIVE

Donna Drive was the third band to play at this showcase. While not only exceptionally talented for their young age, Donna Drive has proven to be a smash hit with those in the local music scene, drawing in fan after fan with every second to come. I haven't seen a band of teenagers grow at such a heavy rate/acquire such a dedicated fanbase so quickly in a long time, and it is truly amazing to witness. Taking inspiration from some of the classic alternative rock bands of our time, like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Pixes, and more, similar to Rickety Cliffs, Donna Drive will leave you feeling nostalgic. If you want a band full of high energy, put together, and a lead singer that can sing like nobody's business, check out Donna Drive as soon as possible.

SAINT LUNA

Last but certainly not least, we enjoyed watching Saint Luna as our headlining act for the showcase. Like the others on this lineup, Saint Luna is an awe-inspiring band to watch live. Not only do they make for perfect headlining material, but something about Saint Luna leaves you wholly captivated for the entire set. Saint Luna takes that classic indie sound and makes it into their own, and with each new release, you can hear their sound maturing and changing with age. Watching the progression of this band has been incredible from an outside perspective, and it was an absolute pleasure to have them play at our home base here at Amplified Studios.
